One of my pet peeves with women's pants is the lack of pockets. I carry things daily (pedometer, kleenex) and don't carry a purse.

As such, suggestion to sew the pockets closed just really rubbed me the wrong way. If the pants are the proper cut and the proper size, the pockets should not be an issue.

I realize that designers think all women carry a purse with them everywhere they go, but that is not reality. i have stopped buying pants without pockets, which can make it tough to find.

Thanks you so much for the excellent tips. I have already been applying some of these ideas (subconsciously), so it is great to know I am on the right track. I think I need to be far braver in the use of pattern and colour. I am so over black and beige. Now I have the confidence to put some long held 'wants' into practice.
