Jane's Jottings

I'm still away travelling, have you been following the outfit posts from my travel wardrobe on Instagram or Facebook? I'm writing this newsletter in May from home in Sydney (it's a bit weird to be so organised ;D) so I'm hoping I wasn't too cold in the UK, and that Sicily isn't super hot (it's supposed to have highs from low to mid 20Cs -- 68F to 77F)!

This month I've answered a reader's question about natural fibres and options for stylish tops.

I'll be back at work on Monday 22nd July. However, if you want to send me a message before then, I will be periodically checking my emails (I won't have access to my phone).

Enjoy this month's Style Snippets. Yours in style

Your Questions Answered

I answer questions I've been asked that I think other readers will be interested in and publish them here.

Q: What options do I have for stylish tops, that don't cling, in natural fibres? from Roselle of New Zealand

I find it difficult to wear synthetic fibres on my torso. Which leaves me with cotton, wool, linen, viscose, or silk for my tops. Because of this restriction, most of my tops are either t-shirts or skivvies (long-sleeved tees).

The problem is I now have a bit of muffin around my middle, so clingy tops - as t-shirts tend to be - are no longer so suitable. Do you have any suggestions either about wearing t-shirts or about other sorts of tops made of natural fibres?

A: I'm so glad Roselle asked this question. There's certainly no need for Roselle to restrict herself to t-shirts! Even though manufacturers make many clothes using fabrics made from synthetic fibres it's still easy to find natural, or semi-synthetic alternatives. I investigate fabric types and give suggestions for stylish tops rich in natural fibres here.
Here's a photo of me (from my travels last year) showing an example of a non-clingy t-shirt made of a high-percentage of natural fibres.
Don't forget to check out answers to other reader's questions. They cover a broad spectrum of style conundrums!
