Jane's Jottings

Hello {!firstname}

I've been writing all about shoes this month, as I said on my Facebook page, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it ;D

If you're thinking of changing your hairstyle soon, take a look at this first.

I've also answered 2 reader questions.

Enjoy this month's Style Snippets. Until next month, all the best

PS I always welcome your feedback, so please contact me with anything you'd like to see either on the website or in this newsletter (reply to this email or use the Contact Me link below).

Passion for Shoes

My love of shoes developed relatively late in life (I'd just turned 40). I can remember the turning point came when I lived in the USA and 2 friends introduced me to DSW (I thought that stood for Discount Shoe Warehouse, but just now when I go and check it seems its short for Designer Shoe Warehouse).

I bought 3 pairs of shoes and I can remember my friends being delighted and telling me they thought it was time I paid more attention to my footwear!

Ever since then I've had a passion for shoes!

Now-a-days my first criteria when choosing shoes is that they are low heeled and comfortable (any higher than 2 inches and the balls of my feet ache). Though that doesn't mean I want to settle for ugly shoes! However, it's sometimes quite a challenge to find low heeled, comfortable AND fashionable shoes.  And I know I'm not alone in this quest! So, I was delighted to find an excellent, online custom shoemaker. You can read all about my experience here.

How do you choose your shoes? To go with a particular outfit? For comfort? Another reason? Read my new shoe articles then pop over to my Facebook post and tell me how you choose your shoes.

Your Questions Answered

Each month I pick 1-3 questions I've been asked that I think other readers will be interested in and publish them here. You can ask me questions or share your style story either directly on my website or through my contact me form.

Q: Meaning of High Waisted and Low Waisted?

A:  This is a good question, especially for younger readers, who typically think their waistline is lower than it actually is!

Q: Not Usual Pear Shape? from Vicki of Melbourne, Australia

A:  Vicki has identified she has some characteristics of the standard pear body shape, but not all and is wondering if she really is this shape, and if so, would like some style recommendations.

Product and Service Updates

The Virtual Hair Styler

I recommend this website if you're thinking of radically changing your hairstyle. Better to try your new cut and/or color on "virtually" than to have the cut or color and decide you hate it! It's also useful for working out what your next haircut will be.

So, I'm happy to let you know they've recently extended their membership terms. The same price now buys 1 years membership versus 3 months. Get in quick, before they change their minds!
